Project Description

When successful novelist Catherine Hayes inherits her estranged grandmother's historic estate on the misty coast of Ireland, she reluctantly returns to the childhood home she fled twenty years ago. Accompanied by her teenage daughter Emily, who knows nothing of their family's dark past, Catherine intends to quickly settle the estate and leave. But as autumn mists roll in from the Atlantic, strange occurrences begin to plague the house. Emily forms a troubling fascination with the local folklore, while Catherine is haunted by memories and secrets she's long suppressed. As mother and daughter drift apart, they must confront the tragic events that tore the family apart – before history repeats itself in the most terrifying way.

Creative Vision

I aim to create an atmospheric psychological horror that prioritizes mounting dread over jump scares. The cinematography will emphasize the isolation of the estate and the encroaching nature that surrounds it. The color palette will shift from warm autumnal tones to increasingly desaturated, fog-shrouded scenes as the story progresses. The boundary between supernatural elements and psychological breakdown will remain deliberately ambiguous until the final act.
